Per Als, Business Director, Danish Travelcard Ltd, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Per is a native of Denmark, born in 1955, and holds a Master in Planning from Aalborg University, 1981, and a Master in Public Affairs& Economics from Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, 1983.

Per has worked with public transportation since the mid 1980’ies – as Economic Council in Ministry of Transport, Director of Finance in Copenhagen Transport, Director of Operations and Development in Copenhagen Metro, Chief Transport Executive in Copenhagen Municipality, and Business Director for Danish Travelcard Ltd.

Per Als is an active and contributing  member of the International Association of Public Transport, UITP, with leadership roles of Chairman of the Economics Commission and member of the Policy Board.

Per is a frequently invited international speaker ona variety of issues of public transportation – ranging from comprehensive planning, organization, finance, tendering, and customer relations.

Large mobility measures are needed to secure well functioning cities, but they take time and money. Therefore this session will address how to deal with mobility while waiting for “the better world” and minimizing city disruption. Indeed this session aims at showing how public transport can secure mobility when large regulatory measures to restrict car traffic are implemented.
